Nestling between the sea and the Seasalter marshes on the "Oyster Coast"
you will find the Sportsman, a one time haunt of local wild fowlers. A few
minutes drive out of Whitstable along the coast towards Faversham brings
you to this haven of fine ales and excellent food.
Inside the stripped pine floor and sturdy tables hand built from reclaimed
timber, create an irresistible atmosphere of relaxed spaciousness.
A good range of local ales from the Shepherd Neame brewery, in nearby
Faversham.
Wines by the glass and a reasonably priced selection of bottles from
Europe and the New World.
The food leans suitably towards the maritime, though not exclusively. Locally
produced ingredients are used to ensure the seasonally changing menu is of
the highest quality.
Our Menus
The Sportsman has 2 menus. The first is chalked up on the board and is
changed daily depending on the ingredients that come from the farms, boats
and game dealers.
The second is a tasting menu which has small dishes which include classics
from our 8 years so far as well as new ideas. It is served with our own
unpasteurized butter and homemade seasalt - If you would like to try the
tasting menu please let us know when you book the table. It is available for
tables of 6 or less and must be taken by the whole table. The tasting menu is
not available on Saturdays or Sundays
